The Brixton Soup Kitchen and the Southwyck House Residents Association will be holding a Big Christmas Dinner in the residents hall on Monday 23rd December.
Our hearts go out to the friends and family of Jason Cover, who was a hard working and regular volunteer at the Brixton Soup Kitchen in Southwyck House.
Jason died this morning after an epileptic fit, and he will be a sad loss to the community.
Jason is pictured second left above in a photo feature about the Soup Kitchen that appeared on the front page of the Brixton & South London Press on March 22nd 2013.
The Resident’s Hall is set to enjoy a long overdue refurbishment, thanks to a Channel 4 TV show.
The full filming takes place next week, and we’ll be posting an update in a day or two.
Volunteers will be needed so look out for posters around the block and info on the website.

The tale of the broken lifts at the eastern end of Southwyck House is turning in to an epic.
Ealirer this year, both lifts were out for a week, causing elderly residents, mums and people with heavy shopping to climb the less-than-salubrious back stairs.
Great to see this worthwhile project using the Resident’s Hall in Southwyck House.
Run by Solomon Smith with help from residents and volunteers, the project collects food surplus from local shops and markets and invites folks to cook together, and welcome everyone to enjoy a delicious meal.
